Over three days, researchers and supervisors will put their work into dialogue with related projects, challenges and perspectives across the built environment, to understand what becomes visible when these individual efforts are considered together, and whether they are beginning to add up to change at the scale and speed the sector requires.

All invitees are encouraged to respond.

01What is the most significant shift you've seen in practice within your field in recent years, and what does it reveal about where the built environment is actually transforming?
02What drivers are accelerating this shift, and what is holding it back?
03Where does research meet practice most directly in your work, and when does it work well in your experience, and what stands in the way when it doesn't?
04What needs to happen, in the short, medium and long term, for this transformation to move faster?

Purpose

Why we're gathering

Test individual research against a wider field of knowledge and practice
Reveal patterns, connections and open questions that no single project would show on its own
Build a shared understanding of where change is happening, what is driving it and what is holding it back

A grounded snapshot of where change in the built environment is happening, what drives or prevents it, and where the opportunity lies

3-day format

How the days unfold

25 November · voluntary

Arrival day

We open with an arrival day, voluntary, but highly recommended. Here we will explore the surrounding landscape, enjoy the hotel facilities and a series of informal discussions, hikes and visits around the area.

26 November · mandatory

Symposium, day one

The official days begin: keynotes, presentations, work sessions and discussion groups, common dinners and social activities across the hotel's many facilities.

27 November · mandatory

Symposium, day two

The programme continues with keynotes and track sessions, shaped by the submitted abstracts and question responses, plus common dinners and social activities.

Three thematic tracks

The themes structuring our sessions

Each track is opened by a keynote, followed by reflections from two to three selected industry supervisors and an open dialogue. The sessions are structured around the themes of our research projects and abstracts submitted before 7 October will be used to revisit and refine the groupings ahead of the symposium.

Assessment and planning

How the built environment is measured, evaluated and planned for — from impact assessment methods to the strategic and spatial planning approaches that shape how projects come into being.

The practical bits

Venue

Hotel Nordlandet, Sandvig, Bornholm — Strandvejen 68, 3770 Allinge. Each participant has their own room, with balcony, ocean view and private toilet and bath.

Costs

Travel, accommodation and catering are covered by BLOXHUB for all invitees. Nothing to budget for on your end.

Arrival

If you're planning your own travel, please arrive no later than the evening of the 25th — the programme begins at 08:00 on the 26th.

Cancellation

Cancellations are charged per the hotel's policy: 50% of the stay 30–14 days before arrival, 70% 14–3 days before, and 100% within 3 days of arrival or for no-shows. This covers costs already committed on your behalf.
